Yes and yes!
Pets are often like family members to us, and I believe they should be included in our photographs as such. When clients ask me if they can bring their pets to a photoshoot, my answer is absolute YES. In fact, some of my favorite photoshoots have been with furry models who brought so much joy and energy to the session.
There's something truly magical about being able to capture the unique personalities and characteristics of our furry friends in a controlled and comfortable environment.
Preparing your dog for a photo session can help ensure that the session goes smoothly and that you capture beautiful and memorable images. Here are some tips to help you prepare your dog for a photo session:
Groom your dog: Make sure your dog is groomed and clean before the photoshoot. Brush your dog's coat and trim any excess hair, and clean their paws and face.
Exercise your dog: Give your dog plenty of exercise before the photoshoot to help them burn off excess energy. A tired dog is more likely to be calm and relaxed during the session.
Remember to be patient and have fun - after all, a photo session with your furry friend should be a joyful and positive experience for both of you!
Bring treats and toys: Bring your dog's favorite treats and toys to the photoshoot. These can be used to reward good behavior and help keep your dog's attention focused on the camera.
Practice basic commands: Practice basic commands with your dog before the photoshoot, such as "sit," "stay," and "come." This can help you keep your dog in place and control their movements during the session.
Bring a leash and collar: Bring a leash and collar to the photoshoot, even if you plan to take photos off-leash. This can help keep your dog safe and under control in case they become overly excited or distracted.
As a photographer, it was an honor to have the opportunity to do a photo session with two incredible teenagers, Zasha and Oli.
I had known Oli since they were a child, which made the session all the more special.
Zasha and Oli brought a skateboard with them to the photo session, and we decided to use the Burke-Gilman Trail tunnel as our location. The tunnel's graffiti provided a colorful and edgy backdrop for the photos, adding an extra layer of visual interest to the shoot.
As they posed with the skateboard, I was struck by how their personalities shone through in each shot. Both of their edgy and cool style was on full display.
It was important to me that I captured their personalities accurately and was able to represent their personalities.
